Reading Workshop
“Readers Make Plans and Invent Projects for Summer Reading.”
Readers will explore different genres of books, with a focus on fairy tales. They will learn about the key elements of fairy tales and read various versions of fairy tales. Readers will also reflect on how they have grown as readers and set summer reading
Math
Topics this month include: function machines, figuring out missing numbers in equations, using calculators to solve number stories, and nonstandard units of measurement. Mathematicians will continue working with: money (coins and $5 and $10 bills) and telling time on an analog clock.
Science
Plant and animal habitats
Scientist will continue to discover the various habitats in which plants and animals live. We will explore the desert, ocean, rainforest/ jungle, arctic, and pond habitats in more depth.

Summer Safety
Since summer vacation is near, citizens will learn ways to stay safe and healthy. We will discuss sun safety, water safety, insect bites, and poisonous plants.
Writers will write their own fairy tales and revise them adding more details, dialogue, and text. Writers will check for spelling, spacing, and punctuation.
